THE SRINJAY BANERJEE TRIO

A not so straight-ahead trio that blends in sounds across space and time into a heady improvisatory concoction. Twisted guitar lines interweaving with sub-sonic frequencies which cannonball into kinky space-funk mysteriously morphing into spiritual excursions in meditative timbres and recreations of auditory hallucinations. The music covers a very diverse sonic territory stretching from roots in Bebop, Funk, Progressive Rock and Modern Classical music, crossed over with more contemporary elements of Electronica including live Drum n’ Bass and down-tempo Acid Jazz.

♫ Shovon Mukherjee on Bass

One of the most prolific young bass players to have come out of Calcutta, Shovon has performed and toured both nationally and internationally with highly acclaimed musicians in a diverse array of jazz, rock and fusion ensembles. He is also currently performing on the upright bass as a part of Abraham Mazumdar’s L’Atelier de Musique chamber music orchestra.

♫ Saurav Ryan Ghosh on Drums

An incredible young drummer who is equally at ease with his traditional chops as well as his backbeat. He switches from high-octane swing drumming to dirty funk grooves with ease. Currently a graduate of the International College of Music, Malaysia, he is looking to further his musical education on the road with the trio.

♫ Srinjay Banerjee on Guitars

Based in parts out of Ithaca, New York and Calcutta, Srinjay is a young jazz guitar player, music educator, composer as well as AI programmer. A graduate of Ithaca College, New York, he had the chance to study with some of the esteemed music educators like Steve Brown and Pablo Cohen. He also studied electronic and electro-acoustic music under Peter Rothbart. His primary influences include John Coltrane, John McLaughlin, Lenny Breau, Bill Evans and Wayne Krantz.
