Alliance Francaise du Bengale
cordially invites you to a classical-jazz concert by the talented French musician duo:
LE CHARTIER – MOQADEM
on 16th September 2011, 8:00pm @ The Tollygunge Club.
ERIC LE CHARTIER, TROMBONE
Born in 1978 in Northwestern France, he studied there musical analysis and writing. He then went further with the same studies in the prestigious Paris Conservatoire National (CNSMD), while studying trombone and orchestration in the Lyon Conservatoire National. In both those music schools, he obtained high distinctions. He also studied jazz piano.
After his studies, in 2008, he ranked second in the Christian Lindberg International Piano Contest, in Valencia, Spain. He holds a degree as trombone teacher and one as a music theory teacher. He is currently, since 2004, playing as solo trombone in the Opera de Lyon National Orchestra.
While keen on performing chamber music, he also performs in recitals and as a soloist with the Brassage Orchestra and with the Rhone Concert Band.
JAMAL MOQADEM, PIANO
Jamal Moqadem started playing the piano when he was five years old. He obtained his first distinctions in piano, chamber music in the Montpellier Conservatoire when he was 15 years old. He was at the same time studying classical percussions
He went further with his studies when attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He perfected his technique in Lyon National Conservatoire where he obtained a Master’s Degree. Jamal is currently dedicating himself to lieders and other melodies.
Since 2003, he is often invited to the Opera de Lyon as a choirmaster. He has recently become a permanent assistant in the accompaniment class of the Lyon National Conservatoire and just won the highest distinction in the Lieder International Contest in Enschede (Netherlands).
Though he has a very impressive classical and contemporary music background, Jamal Moqadem is also a very open musician and a remarkable jazz performer.
LE CHARTIER-MOQADEM DUO
The two artists met while studying in the Lyon National Conservatoire.
However, they collaborated again later, particularly in the Opera de Lyon, and decided to push their professional collaboration further. Both having had a solid classical training and feeling like exploring other fields like improvised music and especially jazz music, they decided to work on a double-sided project.
