BASSFoundation is a collective of DJs, producers and MCs promoting Drum & Bass, Dubstep and other bass-heavy dance music in Delhi and India.
Back in early 2009, Maarten Klein, Ed ‘Praxis’ Anderson, and Delhi Sultanate begain a new movement began in Delhi, starting BASSFoundation – a collective dedicated to the freshest sounds in Drum and Bass, Dubstep and Reggae Dancehall, with strictly good vibes.
Drawing a dedicated massive from the outset, BASSFoundation has caused quite a stir in India over the last 18 months, with capacity crowds at the regular nights in Delhi, and numerous gigs across the country, including: blueFROG, Zenzi Mills, Zenzi Bandra (Bombay); Bacchus, Pebbles (Bangalore); Spoil (Hyderabad); Ai, Shalom, Cafe Morrison, Holi Cow Festival (‘09 & ‘10) (Delhi), Shanti and Sunburn Festival (‘08) (Goa), to name a few.
Praxis and Maarten Klein run things on the decks, spinning creative blends cutting across styles, dropping the latest sounds, classics, and unreleased exclusives alike. Delhi Sultanate represents on the mic, laying down uncompromising conscious lyrics, and whipping the crowd into a frenzy.
BASSFoundation is recognised as one of the top underground club nights in the subcontinent, regularly featuring some of the biggest and best artists globally, as well as flying the flag for homegrown talent.
Guest artists have included: Shiva Soundsystem (UK, BBC Radio 1), Ant TC1 (Dispatch Recordings, UK), Kush Arora, Sub Swara (Low Motion Records, US), NUCLEYA, Dj DL (REDS, Med School Records, UK), Order Of The Essence, Bay Beat Collective and Vachan Chinnappa to name a few.
