FOCAL is an electronic music night bringing a new trend in clubbing to Kolkata for the first time. Every Friday night Focal hosts a marathon 4+ hour set by some of the most forward thinking DJs on the national and international circuit. The concept is to bring back the fulfilling music experience that can only be had with a performer breaking beyond the limitations of the shorter sets that DJs are made to perform nowadays.
**About Nuphlo**
Nuphlo’s style is a delicate balance of eastern melodies, innovative beats and low subs. This tightrope approach to production has lead to a string of Vinyl, CD and MP3 releases on record labels both sides of of the cultural spectrum. In short, Nuphlo’s music represents multicultural cohesion. Much of Nupho’s inspiration comes from 90’s Asian underground music. From artists such as Black Star Liner, TJ Rehmi and Badmarsh & Shri. Nuphlo’s creative vision is to combine the essence of this music with new, cutting edge electronica.
It all started in Leeds, UK in 2001 where Nuphlo had a mix show on local radio station ‘Fever FM.’ He played Asian Underground and Drum&Bass. With the desire to play more exclusive material, production was the next logical step. Today, Nuphlo’s DJ sets consist mainly of exclusive tunes produced by himself and fellow artists.
Most recently, Nuphlo has released on labels such as Nasha records (UK), High Chai records (USA), Meerkat ecordings (Sweden), Lola’s World (Germany), Terminal Dusk records (USA), Boosey and Hawkes (UK), Universal records and more predominantly on Studio Rockers (UK) where he released the ’40 Thieves EP’ working alongside legendary producer Tony ‘Moody Boyz’ Thorpe. Nuphlo has previously remixed for artists such as Landslide, State of Bengal, Foreign Beggars, Jazzsteppa and Boosey & Hawkes.
