“ICONS” – a solo show of mixed-media works by Viraag Desai, will be on
display at the Taj Bengal Promenade Lounge from 26th September to 2nd
October 2011, daily between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Viraag Desai was born in Kolkata in 1986, and this remained his place
of residence till he left to do his BFA at the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago in 2005. After a year in L.A. he has returned to
set up studio in Kolkata, where he designs and curates, and is
actively involved in promoting the growing contemporary art scene in
India.
This exhibition entitled “Icons”, blurs the lines between abstraction
and representation, space and surface. It deals with the ideas of
consciousness, sexuality and decadence, using a variety of
unconventional media.
