Kalkutta Komedians with ANDY ‘N’ ANUVAB
at GD Birla Sabhagar, Friday October 18, 7 pm
KALKUTTA KOMEDIANS are Kolkata’s finest English standup comedy group, not least because they are Kolkata’s only English standup comedy group.
ANDY ZALTZMAN, one of Britain’s leading comedians, cult cricket writer for ESPNCricinfo.com and award-winning political satirist, comes to India with a new stand-up comedy show ‘Cricket Versus The World’.
Andy, an award-winning stand-up comedian who has been afflicted with a severe cricket addiction since early childhood, is the co-star of the worldwide hit satirical podcast ‘The Bugle’, appears regularly on BBC radio, and has performed on television in both Britain and the USA. He played to sell-out audiences in Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata during England’s tour of India late in 2012.
He will apply his distinctive comic touch to the state of world cricket in a period of rapid change, and the general condition of the planet. The show will encompass issues ranging from the IPL to the IMF, from Obama to Tendulkar, from empires to umpires, and from war and peace to Waugh and Pietersen.
He has written from ESPNCricinfo since 2008, blending the surreal and the statistical in his blog ‘The Confectionery Stall’, and becoming one of the most distinctive voices in cricket writing. He covered the 2011 Cricket World Cup for ESPNCricinfo, travelling extensively around India as MS Dhoni led his team to its wildly-celebrated victory.
