The 4on6 Guitar Quartet featuring:

Matthias Muller (Germany)

Matthias is a graduate of the College of Music at Sulzbach-Rosenberg, and studied classical and jazz guitar as well as composition and arranging at the Munich Guitar Institute and the Grove School of Music in Los Angeles. Over the several decades of his musical career, he has toured internationally and played in many styles; he frequently composes music for film and television.

Matthias’ compelling interest in Indian classical music led him to study Carnatic Music (South Indian style), affording him opportunities to play and collaborate with some of the finest Indian players of our time, such as Dr. L. Subramaniam, Sivamani, Tanmoy Bose and world music Grammy winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

Mike McCormick (Canada)

Mike McCormick was a late blooming musician, only picking up the guitar in high school, where his musical interests rapidly grew from rock to jazz. After graduating, he left his hometown of Yellowknife to attend the Music Program at Grant MacEwan College (now University) in Edmonton. Under the guidance of Jim Head and Mo Lefever, Mike graduated with a Diploma in Guitar Performance. There he developed an ear for many types of music, all of which have influenced his own sound. Specifically, Mike likes to incorporate elements of jazz, avant-garde, experimental and world music into his playing. Mike’s passion for all types of music has allowed him to perform throughout Western Canada in various idioms. Mike has performed with his own jazz ensembles, folk acts Shea Alain and Vicky Berg, and even represented the NWT at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Nishad Pandey (Australia)

Nishad was born in India but has spent extended periods of time living in Japan, UK, USA, and Australia. As a result of this nomadic existence, Nishad has been exposed to musical and cultural forms from across the globe. He has been part of various bands encompassing a wide range of styles – jazz, metal, electronica and Indian fusion. While based in Melbourne, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance and performed at a number of important venues such as Bennetts Lane, Paris Cat and Federation Square. Nishad is now based in Kolkata, studying under slide guitar maestro Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya.
