SPARK PARK STREET CARNIVAL

Since 2009 the PARK STREET CARNIVAL has been setting the Kolkata’s entertainment street alight with a multitude of colours, rhythms and flavors. As a Heritage and Climate conscious event, the Festival is organized by the non-profit organization The Society for Park Street Rejuvenation-Kolkata in association with Nivea, LG, Selvel & Red FM. Using the theme of ‘Heritage and Clima…te ‘ as the unifying concept, the Festival celebrates Kolkata’s cultural diversity through dance, music, cultural demonstrations and cuisine.
With support from the West Bengal Tourism Corporation, Apeejay Groups and other corporate groups the previous two Carnivals saw a diverse range of local and national artists take the stage for 3 days and the audiences were enthralled with what they saw.
The 2010 Festival will be held from 25th-27th December on the Allen Park Lawns, the Festival is planned to be bigger and better than previous ones.
This year’s event will showcase everything from the Police Band, a great gesture of public private interaction to a theatre spreading the message of rejuvenation. From Know your City and Street Quiz to Fusion Rock performances.
A heritage walk taking you through the history and the secrets of the street is being organised on Sunday morning during the festival.

The Open Stage Contest will take place on the main outdoor stage at Allen’s Park from 2-4 on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th December.
Performances by some of the cities upcoming bands, dancers and soloists.
